Analysis of Animation Using the 12 Animation Principles:
Squash and Stretch
Untitled-1-06.png

My goal for the beggining part of this animation was to make it look like the 4 is actually falling by its own weight. I used squash and stretch to achieve this by squishing the four, and then stretching it so that the movement looks more lifelike.

Anticipation

In order to prepare the audience for the fall of the 4, I used Anticipation. I did this by moving the 4 backwards before making it fall forward.

Staging

In this animation I used two gradients to create the stage. This style of staging is effective in this animation because it adds to dimension through the introduction of a foreground and a background. This dimensionality makes the movement more realistic.

Straight Ahead Action

I used Straight Ahead Action to makes this animation by drawing each individual frame.

Follow Through and Overlapping Action

I used follow through and overlapping action by making the back end of the 4 lag behind the front end of the four. This is done because the movement begins at the front end so the back end should lag behind according to the laws of inertia.
